Public engagement has concluded for all of the development phases of Destination 2055, the Triangle Region's long-range transportation plan update.  As of mid-November 2025, both MPO Boards (Triangle West TPO and Capital Area MPO) had adopted the projects and programs that will make up Destination 2055.

The adopted projects are now being analyzed to ensure compliance with federal air quality requirements.  Upon completion, likely in early January of 2026, the full Destination 2055 Plan with all projects, programs, and additional descriptions, will be released for a 45-day public comment period. Both Boards are anticipated to consider full and final adoption of the updated plan in February of 2026.
