2055 MTP Draft Projects/Programs
2055 MTP Draft Projects/Programs
Destination 2055 will identify regional roadway, transit, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian improvements for the next 30 years. Community review and feedback is needed as we near the end of the development of the plan. After an 18+ month process that included robust public engagement on Goals & Objectives, Alternatives Analyses, and then the selection of a Preferred Alternative, the technical team has produced a Draft Set of Projects and Programs divided into 10-year buckets to reach 2055, and beyond. To be successful, these future investments must be made together with supporting land development. Decision makers are seeking feedback from the community about the proposed set of projects before the last step of adopting Destination2055, the final plan.
OVERVIEW OF DRAFT PROJECTS & PROGRAMMING
The core of the plan is the set of transportation investments that include:
- New and expanded roads where needed, and re-designed roads for safer, better multimodal travel;
- Local and regional transit facilities and services, including rapid bus and rail lines;
- Aviation and long-distance passenger and freight rail services;
- Bicycle and pedestrian facilities, both independent projects and in concert with road projects;
- Transportation Demand Management: marketing and outreach efforts that increase the use of alternatives to peak period solo driving;
- Technology-based transportation services: the use of advanced technology to make transit and road investments more effective—including the advent of autonomous and connected vehicles
Additional information can be found at Destination2055NC.com. A more detailed and complex GIS-based map for all roadway projects is also available on CAMPO's Maps/Data webpage.

ROADWAY INVESTMENTS
The Draft 2055 ROADWAY investments and their related programming - broken into 10-year buckets, or "horizons" are shown on the map below by their improvement type. The projects listed beyond the year 2055 make up the region's "Comprehensive Transportation Plan" or CTP.
